Greetings from Washington!
Forgive me for the lack of communication—I’ve been getting used to the rhythms of my new world.
There is a little doe who lives under the grape arbor in my front lawn. I see her out my bathroom window just after sunrise, rummaging among the fallen apples. Or sometimes she bolts from me at dusk when I leave the house.
An owl perched on the phone line a few weeks ago and I felt blessed to have seen her, so close and so regal.
Every morning the hummingbirds swarm in the grasses across from the front porch where I drink my coffee.
I’m sure the rain will come soon but for now I am relishing this golden summer, my 32nd year around the sun (happy birthday to me!), and my new home.
If you’re in the PNW (Seattle, Portland or Olympia) stop by Browsers Books this Saturday at 4pm for a reading. I’d love to see your smiling face :)
Come to the orchard in spring,
there is light and wine and sweethearts
in the pomegranate flowers
If you do not come, these do not matter.
If you do come, these do not matter.
